Format[]
The Season consisted of three events in the Preliminary match. Each group of 4 robots were featured in an episode, declaring a single winner. Half of the 24 competing robots that scored lower than the upper 2 will be eliminated after the three obstacle trials. The Preliminary winners will proceed into the Semi-Final match which is only one event. The six competitors who win a final match will advance to the Championship Finals.
The Two Challenges of the Preliminary Match are
- First: Gauntlet - Robots are to race in opposite directions around a diamond shaped track. They will have to pass through 4 barriers of increasing difficulty. Obstacles include a pane of glass, a wall made of pint-sized metal cans, small bricks, stacked stone slabs, worth 10 points each. Once at the halfway point: the Robot would get passed eachother and travel down the opposite side of the track and then back to the starting area Robots were awarded 5 points for each rubble pile negotiated. Once the Robots are back to the starting area: they go up the ramp to the center of the arena the 1st Robot to make it up the ramp to the centre of the arena gets 10 points and the 2nd gets 5. Once into the center of the arena: Robots would enter...The Forest Of Glass. Robots would smash panes of glass - some are red...some are blue. Once all of the red and blue panes of glass are broken down and orange pane of glass would lower down with an additional 15 points awarded to the winner that blasts through it under the three minute time limit. The robots are allowed to intercept their opponents or knock them off The Forest Of Glass and Into the gutter. Weapons are not allowed for this event.
- Second: Labyrinth - Robots must start at a turntable in the center and when starts rotating they navigate to shatter 6 panes of glass where each pane is guarded by a challenge of increasing difficulty with a target spot within 4 minutes. Along the way, they will face 12 obstacles (6 unscoring ones without panes of glass) intended to impede their progress. These will include: Push Box - 15 Points, Lifting Spikes - 15 Points, Suspension Bridge - 20 Points, Pneumatic Flip Ramp - 20 Points, Sand Pit - 25 Points and Cargo Rollers with Wrecking Balls - 25 Points, Unscorable Obstacles without panes of glass: Rough Road, Jump Ramp, Turnable (as mentioned in the center) Speed Bumps and Rat Gate, Speed Bumps. Once all 6 panes of glass 2 gates behind the rat gate would lower down revealing a 7th and final pane of glass worth 25 points for the first robot to the break the pane of glass. and in order to make things a little more interesting speaking of the rat gate the Robots won't be alone in the Labyrinth as they have some company in the for and at the helm of the Robotica Rats: Red Rat and Grey Rat (aka Green Rat and/or Black Rat) Two Rat shaped Robots two wheel driven with static spiked teeth and diamond cutting sawblades at the rear where the tail is and the drivers of the robots are protected in the labyrinth for safety. they're a little added insurance.
After the two challenges, the Semi-Final Round would be the 'Fight to the Finish' where robots will meet in the center of an elevated arena. Surrounding the arena will be a moat filled with spikes. The objective of this round is to disable your opponent and push him into the pit. At the start of this round, the arena will be surrounded on all sides by walls or guardrails. As the contest progresses, the walls will be lowered, exposing both Robots to the danger of falling off the edge of the platform. 6 of the 12 robot contestants will continue into the Finals. There is a new rule that Robots are not allowed to pin their opponents on the guardrails for more than 15 seconds or otherwise that Robot will have to reverse 10 ft.
There will be six semi-final round winners (one winner for each episode). These six will advance to the Finals. All Robots in the Finals will compete in the same two Preliminary challenges, Wherein all 6 competitors will run the gauntlet where 3 Winning Robots move on automatically and the Losing Robot with the highest score becomes a Wildcard whilst the other two go home and the final 4 Robots run the labyrinth until there is 2 left. The two Robots with the highest scores at the end of the preliminary rounds will advance to the "Fight to the Finish" to determine the ultimate champion.
